Az 1930–1940-es évekből származó, Franciaországban készült Charles Heidsieck pezsgőhűtő, az ARGIT párizsi gyártó jelzésével.
A 20 × 20 cm méretű veder rézből készült, eredetileg ezüstözött felülettel.

CHAMPAGNE – Charles Heidsieck – REIMS
A veder alján megtalálható az eredeti francia gyártói jelzés: MODÈLE DÉPOSÉ – ARGIT – PARIS.

Történeti érdekességek
A Charles Heidsieck pezsgőházat 1851-ben alapították Reimsben. A korabeli, márkajelzett pezsgőhűtők nemcsak a pezsgő felszolgálására szolgáltak, hanem a pezsgőházak reklám- és arculati eszközei is voltak. Éttermekben, szállodákban és pezsgőbárokban használták őket.
Az ARGIT párizsi gyártó több francia pezsgőház számára készített fémből készült, márkajelzett pezsgőhűtőket. A Modèle Déposé felirat bejegyzett formatervezési mintára utal.
A bikafejes, orrkarikás fogantyúk eltérnek a hagyományos, egyszerű gyűrűs megoldásoktól. Az állatfejek plasztikus kialakítása és a részletgazdag szőlődíszítés a 19. század végi és 20. század eleji francia díszítőművészet hatását tükrözi.
A szőlőlevelek természetes vonalvezetése a szecesszió világát idézi, míg a veder letisztult, hengeres formája az Art Deco korszak ízléséhez is illeszkedik.
A régi ezüstözés kopása, az előtűnő réz és a fém természetes patinája a tárgy történetének része. A felület újraezüstözés nélkül őrzi meg leginkább eredeti karakterét.

Charles Heidsieck – Antique French Champagne Cooler with Bull Head Handles and Nose Rings – ARGIT Paris, 1930s–1940s

An antique Charles Heidsieck champagne cooler made in France, dating from approximately the 1930s–1940s, bearing the mark of the Parisian manufacturer ARGIT.
Measuring 20 × 20 cm, the cooler is made of copper and was originally silver-plated. Over the decades, much of the silver plating has worn away, revealing the warm golden tones of the copper beneath. The remaining silver plating and natural patina give the piece its present appearance.
The most distinctive features are the two elaborately sculpted bull heads on either side, each with a large movable metal ring passing through its nose. These rings serve as both functional handles and decorative elements. The carefully modelled horns, eyes and textured hair demonstrate the detailed craftsmanship of French decorative metalwork of the period.

The upper section is decorated with cast pewter ornaments depicting grape leaves, bunches of grapes and winding vines. These motifs directly reference champagne production and the vineyards of the Champagne region.
The oval metal plaque on the front features the raised inscription:
CHAMPAGNE – Charles Heidsieck – REIMS
The underside bears the original French manufacturer’s mark:
MODÈLE DÉPOSÉ – ARGIT – PARIS

Historical Background and Interesting Details
The Charles Heidsieck champagne house was founded in Reims in 1851. During the early 20th century, branded champagne coolers were not only practical accessories for serving champagne but also important promotional objects. They were used in restaurants, hotels and champagne bars, where they helped establish the identity of individual champagne houses.
The Parisian manufacturer ARGIT produced branded metal champagne coolers for several French champagne houses. The inscription Modèle Déposé indicates a registered design.
The bull head handles with rings through their noses are an unusual alternative to conventional ring handles. Their sculptural design, combined with the detailed grapevine decorations, reflects the influence of French decorative arts from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The flowing, natural shapes of the grape leaves recall the Art Nouveau style, while the cooler’s simple cylindrical body also fits the aesthetic of the Art Deco period.
The worn silver plating, exposed copper and natural patina are part of the object’s history. Preserving the original surface rather than having it re-silvered helps retain its authentic character.
