Ezt az eredeti Art Deco alumínium pezsgős jégvödrös hűtőt Franciaországban készítették a híres reims-i Eugéne Cliquot pezsgőház számára az 1950-es években.
Egyik oldalán fekete, arany, ezüst és piros logóval.
A talpon Le Trefle Metaux Ouvres Vesoulon bélyegzett. 2 oldalsó fogantyúval.
Egy francia bolhapiacon találták a Loire-völgyben.
És, hogy miért híres ez a pezsgőház?

A mi Eugéne-ünk visszaélve a XIX. századi gyengécske védjegyoltalmi rendszerével. Mivel ugyanaz volta a családi neve, mint az 1772-ben Philippe Clicquot,által alapított és az özvegye Barbe Nicole Ponsardin által híressé vált pezsgőháznak, szépen neki állt maga is Clicquot néven pezsgőt gyártani és azzal kereskedni. Angliában és főleg az Egyesült Államokban vették is mint a cukrot…
Persze szóltak neki, hogy nem lesz ez így jó, perelgették, védekezgetett hogy ő már 1844-ben levédette a saját nevét, stb. stb., közben azért az üzlet ment a maga útján míg meg nem halt…
Halálát követően az üzletet a békesség kedvéért a cég nevét Eugéne Cliquot Maison Fondée en 1894-re változtatták. Kihagyva a c betűt a Clicquot névből. S így el is üzemelgettek a XX. század végéig. Antik champagne árveréseken 1970-es palackjukat láttam a legutolsó dátummal.
Egyébként nem a mi Eugéne-ünk volt az egyetlen ügyeskedő, készültek bőven Alfred Roederer, vagy Henry Moët pezsgők is. Ugyanazzal a módszerre: szándékosan elhallgatva a keresztnevüket, kihasználták régebbi és tekintélyesebb névrokonaikkal megegyező családi nevüket.
Kultúrtörténeti érdekességük miatt, az Eugéne Cliquot pezsgősvödrök keresett gyűjtői darabok.

This original Art Deco aluminum champagne ice bucket cooler was made in France for the famous champagne house Eugéne Cliquot in Reims in the 1950s.

It was found at a French flea market in the Loire Valley.

By the way, our Eugéne wasn’t the only expert, there were plenty of Alfred Roederer and Henry Moët champagnes as well. By the same method: deliberately withholding their first names, they took advantage of their family names, which were the same as their older and more prestigious namesakes.
