CHAMPAGNE POMMERY – Francia ón pezsgőhűtő, gazdag szecessziós domborművekkel, 1950–60 körül – ELADÓ

CHAMPAGNE POMMERY – Impressive Vintage French Pewter Champagne Cooler with Elaborate Art Nouveau Relief Decoration, circa 1950s–1960s

Ritka megjelenésű, nagyméretű, talapzatos Champagne Pommery pezsgőhűtő a 20. század közepéről, tömör hatású, közel négy kilogrammos ónkivitelben, kitűnő állapotban.

A franciaországi Reims nagy múltú Pommery pezsgőházának nevével fémjelzett, reprezentatív, többpalackos pezsgőhűtő. Formavilágát a szecesszió természet ihlette ornamentikája határozza meg: a szélesen öblös tál felületén körbefutó, plasztikusan kiemelkedő, hullámzó szőlőindák, stilizált levelek és szőlőfürtök alkotnak gazdag, mégis harmonikus díszítést.

A tál homlokzatának középpontjában domborított keretben a „CHAMPAGNE POMMERY – REIMS FRANCE” felirat látható, fölötte a pezsgőház címerével. A mívesen kidolgozott növényi motívumok, a szélesen kihajló, többszörösen profilozott felső perem és az erőteljes, gyűrűsen tagolt talapzat különösen elegáns, szoborszerű megjelenést kölcsönöznek a tárgynak.

Anyaga ón (étain / pewter). A pezsgőhűtő teljes külső felülete újra lett polírozva, ennek köszönhetően rendkívül magas fényű, szinte tükörszerűen csillogó, újszerű megjelenésű. A gazdag domborműves díszítés élesen kirajzolódik, részletei szépen érvényesülnek.

Állapota kitűnő. Az ón természetes, korából eredő öregedésének nyomai kizárólag a tál polírozatlan belső felületén figyelhetők meg, megőrizve a tárgy eredeti, korhű karakterét. Külseje látványosan megújult, miközben a belső rész továbbra is tanúskodik több évtizedes múltjáról.

A talapzat üreges kialakítású, alsó részét bádoglemez zárja le, amelyet kék védőfilc borít. Ez a szerkezeti megoldás a nagyméretű, súlyos ónedény stabil alátámasztását szolgálja.

A modell az 1950–1960-as évekre datált Pommery pezsgőhűtők körébe sorolható.

A Champagne Pommery ezen gazdagon díszített, közel négy kilogrammos ón pezsgőhűtője a francia champagne-kultúra és a 20. századi díszítőművészet találkozásának figyelemre méltó példája. Monumentális arányai, szecessziós ihletésű ornamentikája, karakteres címeres márkajelzése és kivételesen szép, fényes állapota miatt nem csupán funkcionális pezsgőhűtő, hanem önálló dekoratív és gyűjtői értékkel rendelkező tárgy.

CHAMPAGNE POMMERY – Impressive Vintage French Pewter Champagne Cooler with Elaborate Art Nouveau Relief Decoration, circa 1950s–1960s

An exceptional, large-scale, pedestal-mounted Champagne Pommery cooler, dating from the mid-20th century. Crafted from substantial pewter, weighing nearly 4 kg (8.61 lbs), and presented in excellent condition.

This magnificent French champagne cooler bears the name of the historic Champagne Pommery house of Reims, France. Designed to accommodate several bottles of champagne, it combines impressive proportions with exceptionally decorative craftsmanship.

Its distinctive design is inspired by the flowing, organic forms of the Art Nouveau movement. The generously proportioned bowl is adorned with elaborate, raised relief decorations featuring gracefully intertwining vines, stylised leaves and grape clusters. These sculptural motifs extend around the entire exterior, creating an elegant and harmonious decorative composition.

At the centre of the bowl is a prominent rectangular cartouche bearing the embossed inscription “CHAMPAGNE POMMERY – REIMS FRANCE”, surmounted by the historic Pommery coat of arms.

The richly detailed botanical ornamentation, broad, elegantly moulded upper rim and substantial, stepped pedestal base give the piece a striking, almost sculptural presence.

Material: Pewter (étain).

The entire exterior has been professionally repolished to an exceptionally high, almost mirror-like finish, giving the cooler a remarkably fresh, nearly new appearance. The polished surface beautifully enhances the intricate relief decoration, allowing the sculpted details to stand out with exceptional clarity.

Condition: Excellent.

The exterior is exceptionally bright and beautifully preserved, with the appearance of a newly finished piece. Natural age-related oxidation and patination of the pewter are visible only on the unpolished interior of the bowl. These authentic traces of age preserve the object’s historic character and provide a pleasing contrast to its brilliant exterior.

The pedestal is hollow and closed underneath by a fitted sheet-metal plate, covered with protective blue felt to prevent scratching furniture or other display surfaces.

The cooler corresponds to a known decorative Pommery model generally attributed to the 1950s–1960s. Comparable examples featuring the same distinctive raised vine decoration and pedestal construction have appeared at international auctions and specialist vintage dealers. The precise manufacturing date and original metalworking workshop have not been established.

With its generous diameter and substantial construction, the cooler was designed for chilling several champagne bottles simultaneously in ice. Beyond its original function, it is an impressive decorative and collectible object, particularly suited to an elegant dining room, private wine cellar, sophisticated bar or distinguished champagne collection.
