1856-ban, amikor a gyapjúipar Franciaországban válságba került, Alexandre Pommery és Narcisse Greno belevágott az akkor már virágzó pezsgőkereskedelembe.
Férje 1858-as halála után felesége Louis Pommery vette át a cégügyeket és a reims-i székhelyű Pommery & Greno márka hamarosan a régió egyik vezető házává vált.
Louise Pommery egyike azon híres „pezsgőözvegyeknek”, akik férjük halála után kiemelkedő szerepet játszottak, kis pezsgőházaik globális birodalmává formálásában.
A pezsgőház sokáig a Pommery a családban tulajdonában maradt, míg a 20. század második felében többször el nem adták. Végül is 2002-ben a Vranken megvásárolta az LVMH-tól, így Vranken-Pommery Monopole lett a cég neve. A Greno család neve pedig eltűnt a történelem süllyesztőjében.

In 1856, when the wool industry in France was in crisis, Alexandre Pommery and Narcisse Greno ventured into the then flourishing champagne trade.
After her husband’s death in 1858, his wife Louis Pommery took over the company affairs and the Reims-based Pommery & Greno brand soon became one of the leading houses in the region.
Louise Pommery is one of the famous „champagne widows” who, after the death of their husbands, played a prominent role in shaping their small champagne houses into a global empire.
The champagne house remained owned by the Pommery family for a long time, until it was sold several times in the second half of the 20th century. After all, in 2002, Vranken bought it from LVMH, so the company became Vranken-Pommery Monopole. And the name of the Greno family disappeared into the abyss of history.
